• All types of specialised binding. We do unconventional binding in the sense that we aim to bind any size, medium and form. If it is possible – we will bind it.  All sizes of books can be bound.  Any quantity of books can be bound. High quantity pages can be bound.  Nearly all mediums can be used as covers. (Pre-request) Nearly all types of paper can be bound. (Pre-request)
• All types of restorations. We restore aged paper with a thermal adhesive.  We specialise in restoring old bibles and books to as near to its original form, as possible. We aim to use only natural products and no chemicals in our restoration.
• Leather aged binding. New leather can be aged in the traditional way so that a book cover can be made to look old, used and scuffed. Examples of these are bibles, photo albums and memorial books.  A special pigment is applied to natural leather to enable an aged look. Hand tooling and other types of trades can be done to age the cover of a book.
• Repairs and re-binding. Any broken book can be rebound or repaired.  Soft cover bibles can also be re-bound.  Rebinding can be done in a medium of your choice.  Repairs can be done as a cheaper option.
• Printed covers. A printed cover can be used as is or protected with a laminate coating.  Printed covers should be supplied by you the client on our specifications.
• ¼ Flush binding. A board cover with a linen based spine can be made for books used as invoice books.  It is a cheap alternative to bind your loose printed pages for manuals and general notes.
• Full cloth binding. The book is bound using a cloth like material to do hardcover binding.
• ½ Calf binding. A hardcover made with a genuine leather spine and corners overlapping a PVC or other type material side and labels on the spine. For example law reports, protocols and journals.
• Full leather binding. A hardcover book made with genuine leather.  The following can also be used, natural leather / aged leather / buffalo leather and dyed leather.
• Imitation leather binding. A hardcover book made with any type of imitation leather such as PVC, Novalite and Skivertex.  Colour and texture depends on the availability of stock. It is popular for the binding of visitations or thesis books.
• Hardcover binding. Specified as a cover that is made of a board with a hardened spine.  Book can be cleat (loose pages) or section (sectioned folded pages) sewn. End-sheets, a lining and head and tail bands are usually included in hardcover binding.  Thesis binding is the most common type or hardcover binding.
• Soft cover binding. This term is used for specify a book with a soft printed coated or non coated cover.  Can be cleat (loose pages) sewn with or without an end sheet. No lining or head and tail bands can be used.  Soft covers can be hand bound or perfect (machine) bound.
• Portfolio’s on request. Any type of portfolio can be handmade to the client specifications.  If it is possible – we will bind it.  All sizes of books can be bound. High quantity pages can be bound.  Nearly all mediums can be used as covers. (Pre-request) Nearly all types of paper can be bound. (Pre-request)
• Inter screw files made to order. Hardcover files made with a hinge and inter screws so that you the client can loosen the cover and keep on adding new pages to your file.  Files an open spine, but is still able to page easily.  Inter screws are not readily available and these files can only be made on request.
• All types of foiling. Foiling is the heat imprinted wording on leather or imitation leather covers.  Usually it is done on the spine and front of cover such as with thesis books. Standard loose type can be used, or foiling blocks with wording and logo’s can be made to specifications.  A variety of colours of foils are available.
• In-bossing. To do this, a positive, heat imprint are made of a logo done with a specially made negative foiling block.  Used on paper, certificates, dustcovers and letterheads so that the logo can be felt when gliding your hand over the paper.
• De-bossing. Heat imprinted wording on leather or imitation leather covers.  Usually it is done on the spine and front of cover such as with thesis books. Standard loose type can be used, or foiling blocks with wording and logo’s can be made to specifications.  It is thus just an imprint with no colour.
• Hand tooling. It is the old art of imprinting patterns on leather with specially edged wheels and hand tools made of copper.  The copper tools are heated over an open flame to the correct temperature and then used to pres or burn detailed patterns in the leather.
